Sorry, the Soviet Union is dead, and I'm sure they probably had laws like
that.
Absolutely no way we "need" Federal regulations like that. To see what that
style of regulations do, move to The Peoples Republic Of California.
The auto companies have no interest in being in the parts business as it is,
as it is not a moneymaker. If they wanted to make money doing it, you would
really scream at what they charge.

It would be interesting to see the equation they use to calculate parts
prices. It would also be interesting to see what Ford originally paid for
certain parts. Maybe we need Federal regulations where a part cannot have a
list price more than 5 times what it originally cost the car company. I
would guess that Ford paid $5 or $10 for a subwoofer, even in the small
quantity that they bought. Also need a law that requires them to make all
parts available for 10 years after the vehicle is discontinued.
