[Shotimes] Sluggish steering at high speeds

When I drive at highway speeds, my car is kind of sluggish when reacting to rapidly turning the steering wheels back and forth, i.e., "zig-zagging" down a straight line.

My car is now wearing 235/45-17 Pirelli Pzero Rosso on 7.5" wide rims.

However, this sluggishness goes away completely when I put my old wheels back on (235/45-17 Pirelli P7000SS mounted on 8" wide rims.) On these wheels the steering is sharp and immediate.

In both cases I use the same tire pressure (42psi).

I'm starting to suspect that the Pzero's are soft in the side walls. Also note that the Pzero are strictly summer tires, while the P7000SS are all-season.

I checked the steering rack, ball joints, tie rods. All looks in good condition.

What are your experiences with your tire/wheels combos?
