Have you pulled the codes?

Everything you describe sounds like a cam sensor, except for the inital
stalling itself. From what I know the cam sensor is only used when
trying to start the engine, and it wouldn't factor in to the equation if
the engine had started and was running fine.

When it stalls do all the other electrical components function? That
would probably rule out the battery or its cables.

Hope this is of some help,

Last month my CPS went out so I replaced the
waterpump/T-belt/Tensioner(sp?)..
the car ran fine......until today. Same symptoms, check engine,
stalled, no
tach and those annoying hard 'catchy' sounding starts. I double-checked
the
CPS(left the timing belt cover off) and there is no leak from the
water-pump..I even ran a long q-tip down behind it to check for
moisture..
nothing!

What else will cause these symptoms? I'm about to pull my hair out.
Will a
camshaft position sensor cause these problems?

Thanks guys and gals.
