Just began experiencing the same thing 2 weeks ago. When I first turn on the
ignition everything's ok, then when I start the car the dash, clock, and
windows don't work. I turn off the ignition and restart once or twice and
all's well again. Doesn't happen every time either, just once in maybe 5
starts. I thought it might be my aftermarket radio/cd 'cause I don't listen
to it much and I usually leave the detachable head unit at home, but I was
driving some people around and put it in for them, so I took it out, but it
still happened once in a while. I now think it's the ignition switch, but I'm
not 100% on that. Meanwhile it doesn't seem terminal, just a PITA.

Subject: [Shotimes] Dash Lights
Tonight I went out to drive up to the store and my dash lights would not
come on. I think remember George saying something about this problem being
ignition switch related. I played with everything that might have some
relationship to the dash lights but could not get them to come on. When I
left the store the dash lights worked correctly!
Any ideas?
