[Shotimes] Hoses, hoses and more hoses

Speaking of radiator hoses, has anyone ever used a
"flex hose"? When I replaced the cooling system last
spring, the "friendly local autoparts guy" recommended
a flex hose for the upper hose on the SHO. He said
sumthing to the effect of "the formed upper hose has
that weird kink in it and it isn't going to be as
strong as the flex". I kept saying I wanted the
standard hose, but he kept pushing the flex. I finally
got the standard hose, but it took awhile. Is that way
radiator hoses are going? Or was this guy an idiot?
