As Mark said it is lighter, Had one Gen 2 fail at 130k and one Gen 1 fail at
195k. To use a 2 in a 1, a wire would have to be connected on the large bolt
on terminal to the 1/4" tab. You could eliminate the solenoid on the fender
but would be a lot more work.
