I recently had a similar problem with a battery and finally traced it to a bad
starter solenoid which did not release completely and was still passing
current after the engine was switched off. Have you replaced it lately?
Apparently Ford has put out a bad batch of Motorcraft starter solenoids which
have a P/N SW-1951-C. Ford number E9TZ-11450-B, Relay. On the bottom of my
box there is an additional letter and number designation of CTONA 101502
which may be some type of manufacturing lot number. My dealer has had several
returned to him in the last two months.
The amperage draw was insufficient to turn the engine over but is great enough
to kill the battery in short order. It killed my battery completely which was
only 6 months old but fortunately still under full replacement warranty.
