[Shotimes] 89 SHO Idle Issues - Help Please

Welcome to the list!

First, make sure the cruise control cable has not come unhooked from the
throttle.  Mine tended to do that and would interfere with the throttle
plate returning to the closed position.

Second, try running the KOER codes as presented in the FAQs at
www.shotimes.com  See if any codes come up regarding idle speed control or
control of engine RPMs.

If so, post them and we'll see what happens.

My instinct is that the problem will be an Idle Speed Control valve fault
(or its associated electronics from the PCM).  The ISC costs about $55 from
AutoZone and is not too terribly difficult to replace.  Well, that bottom
screw is - it takes a LOT of Allen wrench repositioning.  AZ refers to it as
the "Throttle Air Bypass" valve.
