[Shotimes] (OT)Space Shuttle disaster

While I agree with your sentiments that all human lives are precious and
that it is sad for anyone to die in any manner, I believe that there was
a more eloquent way of saying what you said. I never once claimed that
the lives of the 7 astronauts was any more precious than those who have
died senselessly around the world. Space shuttle missions are always a
media event and therefore are usually very prominent in the public eye.
When a disaster like this happens, people tend to take notice. Whether
or not people should or do pay more attention to certain events than
others is a huge philosophical discussion based upon many variables that
aren't very easy to discuss on a car forum and probably shouldn't be
either.
Keep in mind that there was an Indian woman and an Israeli on board that
shuttle as well. I feel for them just as much as I feel for everyone
else who was on board.
Ian

Ok, this has to be said. Who fucking cares, a life is a life. Are you
telling me that there is something special about these 7 people that we
should mourn for them and not others? How about all the people that get
killed by bombings, and terrorist acts half-way across the world? I
never see anyone posting anything about them? I never see anyone saying
how THAT is a tragedy? But it didn't happen here, so it's not important
is it? Respect? I think there's less respect in people that single out
the lives that are important based on where they live.
