[Shotimes] Oil pressure light on

One of the first things to replace would be the oil pressure sending unit.
They are a normal wear item.

You mentioned a rattle, is the idle dropping below 900? If so, the pressure
would be low.

I personally have never heard of an oil pump failure in the 5 years I've
been on this list. I would suspect the rod bearings before I would the pump.

The SHO motor is a fairly loose motor that deosn't build up too much
pressure. A normal idling hot pressure is in the 10-15 PSI range.

You didn't mention what year SHO your 'friend' had and what mileage.
