Steve,

Have you ever owned an RX7?  I had one of the first gen cars 
(single rotary, low hp, super low torque). and it was a 
blast to drive every day!  Great autocrosser too, just put 
it in second and let it rev till the cows come home! 
(whatever that means).  Was at the end of a short straight 
one sunday, and thought the rpm's were a little high, looked 
down and the tack was at 10 grand!  Car was still pulling 
hard.  "We don't need no stinkin gears!"  ;)

Really, the car was a joy to drive, and the lack of big 
torque wasn't a big deal.  The new one has better torque, 
and a pretty good shot of HP, so just keep the rev's up and 
listen to it Hummmmmmm  (remember the early commercials?)

Unless the new GTO looks a lot better in person than I think 
it will, I may have to consider the RX8 if it has any sort 
of room inside at all.  I am looking for something fun to 
buy in a year or two, and with my SHO's to back it up, I 
don't need something totally practical.
