I guess I've been extremely fortunate. The previous owner of the car
took such good care of it that I haven't had any major problems. Aside
from having my fuel pump die and my clutch slowly dying, nothing has
gone wrong. Of course, the problem that has got my mind thinking, the
leaky seals, is not something that needs immediate attention.
Consumption is up to a quart every 300 miles or so, but I am going to
remedy this in the spring when it warms up a bit and the 2 feet of snow
goes away. As for getting a new car, I was considering an RX8, but I'm
not so sure about the size. I really like the size of the Gen I SHO,
but I don't like anything on the market right now that is this size and
costs less than about 30K.

I think that you said something about getting a new car. What were you
looking for? That might be a better option. The SHO is a money pit;
you'll only get satisfaction as well as heartache out of it but you'll
never get the money that you put into it back.

More mods and maintenance than you can shake a stick at and still worth
nothing.

Upon consideration of all the advice given, I've determined that I may
be acting a bit naovely. I'm thinking that I should add a Quaife, a
better exhaust system, a larger MAF, and a higher performance clutch.
Then, after all of that has been completed, I will begin planning out
the installation of a supercharger, assuming I still have some money and
the desire to mess with my car anymore. Thanks for knocking some sense
into me!

With what I know about Supercharged SHO's I dont recommend them unless
your A) totally proficent on working on your car B) the installer is in
your home town.
A super charged show is a hoot to drive. My car was probably on the
light end of HP as S/C SHO's go. I estimate I was about 360 HP +/-.
When you mod a car to the point of S/C you will potentially face
problems from a variety of areas. Blown clutchs, possibly blown motors
..... bad running motor , turned half shafts ..etc.etc.
This is a very expensive propostion. I most certainly would not have the
car as your daily driver.
Bottom line ; yes they are a blast to have ... but unless your very
proficent and plan to use this as your second car I would advise against
it.
