Fascinating, that.

You need either a very stiff, very lightweight driveshaft or - more 
probably in the CV case, since the driveshaft is probably too long to avoid 
whip no matter how light and stiff - a two-piece shaft with a center 
support.  Ford, of course, settling for the illusion of performance rather 
than the real thing, just didn't bother.
