I think that boils down to "car people vs. image people". There are some
people in the mustang groups I used to associate with(stopped, they were
mostly @holes, only problem of owning a mustang) and they would not say a
camaro was good if you forced them. Ok, the mustang has a strong motor and a
host of repectable qualities. When told a Z28 will blow their doors off(by me
a mustang owner) they would say how they beat Z28's and T/A's all day long
with their stock 225hp mustang, etc etc etc. Then there are the Z28/TA people
in the club I'm currently in that won't give any respect to a mustang. Funny
enough at the dyno day for the LS1 crowd we all ended up at a VW tuning shop
since one of the people in our club used to work there and the place is run
by nice people. There was a new beetle inside that was running a 12.2 in the
1/4. I said I'd rather run a 14.5 in my car because I hate beetles(looks) but
we all had alot of respect for that car. Completely gutted, really ugly,
moderately big wing but that could be because of how high the roof line on
those suckers is. Anyways it just boils down to people who have a genuine
interest in cars(like most of us seem to) and people who like to be in a
certain crowd(ALOT of people I know, alot of GM vs. Ford vs. Honda vs. etc).

p.s. You guys are fun, we can all rag on ford quality, talk about BMW's and
still end up liking our non-factory support cars enough
to keep them and promote them!
