[Shotimes] fuse links in pow

Sometimes you can tell where they're at by looking. I'm not familiar with
Fords,
but GM used to make there fusible links a little larger diameter than the wire
it
was surrounded by. You could see where they were, then tug on both ends
of the wire around them. If the insulation stretched, you knew the link had
blown. That happened on an old Pontiac I had once. And I had never heard
of them before that.

Michael:
They are called fusible links. They are just wires that burn in two if the
current exceeds their rating. What's bad about them is they look fine from
the outside even when burned up! Always check for a connection using a
meter. You may have one burned in two and just can't tell by looking.

have an open circuit to the input of the voltage regulator part of the
alternator. Helms instructs to "fix fuse link F". Well, Fuse Link F is
located in the vicinity of the left strut tower (down there among a bunch of
other cables and hoses.) It took me a while to find the Fuse Link. See, it's
not marked in any way. It just hangs there with all these other cables and
hoses. I had to strip away the electrical tape to expose the wire to confirm
that this was the right Fuse Link.

disconnecting it there is one thick pin in one half of the connector, and a
large hole in the other connector half. I'm suspecting the pin itself is the
Fuse and that it can be pulled out.
