[Shotimes] ugh... car audio info/update

Okay, I know this might be a stupid question, but I've never come across
such a pain in the rear as far as the wiring goes for the JBL system. When
I'm all done with this I'll definitely share my experience.

Is there any type of adapter needed since the SHO has a power antenna,
or does the new radio have the proper setup to make it work? One place says
no, the other says yes, lol.

Also, another thing I've discovered is the following: apparently for the
JBL system the JBL radio has some type of preouts to connect to the JBL
amps, similar to what an aftermarket radio does. If anyone tells you to
just hook the speaker outputs directly to the JBL amp I would suggest that
you DON'T DO IT! You can KILL your amps. (Unfortunately I was told that
this would be okay by one of the people who I spoke with, but then I got him
to tell me that it was also harmful, which I figured was the case.) What
the little box does is convert the speaker outputs to preout-type signals by
lowering the signal and the voltages, so that it can feed the amps without
overloading them. I'm wondering how close to regular preout specs the JBL
amps use, as it would just be possible to make a harness to connect the
aftermarket RCA preouts to the JBL connector... I think I've seen these
online somewhere actually...

Any input?

Thanks,
Chris
