Therein lies the problem.  MOST people do associate more Watts with more
dBs.

Joseph, you are absolutely correct and you'll certainly get no argument from
this end.  (See George "The Maven" Fourchy's excellent post for more details
if you haven't already.)

BUT, let me ask you this - do we modify our SHOs to make 300hp just so we
can use 150 of it?  Of course not!!!   We modify to get 300hp so we can use
ALL 300!!!

Likewise, when someone installs 2000W of stereo gear in their car, they are
NOT going to turn the volume up only half way!!!  They spend all of that
money so they can turn the volume up to MAX and "show off" all 2000W.

There's loud music and there's clean music, and as a musician I know and
appreciate the latter.  If everyone knew and understood your above
statement, Joseph, the world would be a better place.  :^)  Unfortunately,
the "kids" today only equate loud stereos and loud exhaust with "cool".
