chris,
   all i did with my stereo is i bought a ford deluxe wiring harness for my 
aftermarket cd player, and it came with an amp turn on wire that hooked up to 
the factory amp wiring kit,, since all the wire does is send a signal that 
says turn on the amp, i was able to splice it and run another wire to my 
aftermarket amp,, that way i got the best of both worlds w/o the amp cutout 
kit,, btw anything above $20 is a ripoff
