Have you tried anything with the cpu? Intel doesn't get very many bad
chips, but it's possible. Try installing a different operating system, does
it still freeze up the same? What kind of RAM is it, might not be fully
compatible w/ the board. Check for the compatibility list on Asus' website

Subject: [Shotimes] Way OT Seagate drive utilities
Does Seagate offer a drive utility for setting up their drives? I have
an 80gig Barracuda that I am trying to work with. Seagate's site is so
moronic; I can't find anything except for a pdf file in their site.
This is the same PC that I posted about a month ago...I just haven't had
the time to work on it until today. I think that the motherboard (ASUS
P4B266) is bad but I am trying everything. It hangs when I enter XP's
installation. (right after the menu for "press enter to install XP or R
to repair..whatever I press, it hangs at that point)
Tested memory on DDR tester=fine
Flashed BIOS with revised BIOS=better but still same problems
Removed everything that wasn't essential to the computer..
Only working with 1 HD and 1CD ROM drive..
I am pretty frustrated considering that I used to do this as a
job..Worse yet, I think my g/f thinks I don't know how to build a
computer (its hers) grrrrrrr
thanks
Ian
