I had an ESP on my '89 GL. I took it into the dealer for some problem (can't
remember what), and they found a couple oil leaks. They told me that because
of the mileage on the car at the time, they usually see other leaks starting
up,
so they replaced just about every seal on the engine; oil pan, front and rear
crank seals, transmission pump seal, transaxle to engine seal, rocker cover
seals, and probably a few others too. There was a problem with the harmonic
damper too. They told me that wasn't supposed to be covered under the warrany,
but they wrote it up as if the oil leaks caused the problem, and I got a free
damper too. I felt they were looking out for me and saved me alot of hassles
and money later on.

Unfortunately, that dealer is no longer in business. It was Quality Ford.
Ironic,
me thinks.

You must live in an alternate universe, where Ford dealers actually CARE about
you and don't try to screw you! When I took my '95 ATX (under warranty) to
the dealership a few days after purchase with a tranny issue (sloppy 1-2
shift), they first said it didn't do it for them, then the 2nd time they said
it's "normal"! Where is this alternate universe, by the way?
