Ok - that math doesn't add up so I checked the track website - try .6 miles.

Oh, it's been past 5K - namely Labor Day at Iowa Int'l Speedway (kinda
funny - think about it) for the SCCA AutoCross. Didn't have to worry about
traffic in front or to the left of me there, or anything but 1st & 2nd gear.
It's a go-kart track, just over a mile long, 6 turns (or 9 if you call
hairpins 2 each). With bad struts, and Touring T/A 225R60/16's on slicers,
best 2 laps were about 80 flat; sucked getting beat in class by 6 seconds by
Neons and Probes, but they had good tires and experience on me. Next year
I'll have the new Sachs struts and a 26mm rear bar from Joseph to help;
probably still have the sucky tires, though. Have better ideas from the
list as to tire pressures, too. Need to get the shifter lubed, too, me
thinks, as 1-2 shift is the most difficult on my SHO.

Yes, you will find a huge difference when you wind to 6,500-7,000. Don't
worry about it, that's what these motors are made to do. My '89 was wound to
7K a minimum of twice a day, usually more like a half-dozen times a day,
every day for the 10 years and 180K+ miles I owned it. Tim Pavlik now has
over 200K on it, and he doesn't drive any easier than I do. Since he fixed
the leaking pan, I would be surprised if it even needs a quart between 3K
oil changes.
If you haven't ever wound it past 5K, you are missing out on the best part
of the power curve!
