[Shotimes] Oil Leak Prolem???

My oil pan is leaking so bad on my 89 right now, I use a quart on the way to
work!  Need to get under that thing tonight and seal it up.  People think
the car is on fire because it is leaking right on the cat.  The smoke trail
looks like one of those planes that write messages in the sky!

In a word, NO. That oil can't possibly get into the motor.

Also, while your leaks may seem big, they are NOT the cause
of your oil use. Leaks must be HUGE before they can effect
oil level in a couple thousand miles.

Your oil is going out the tailpipe (after being eaten by the
cat converters if still working) through the rings or more
likely, the valve guides. This is where a SHO v6 usually
looses almost all of its oil.
