Thats not to say it won't accellerate, though. Think about the potential in
all that rotational weight spinning at 150,000rpm.
What we really need is a figure that compares the entire torque band against
the gearing ratios (to determine the ideal shift points, and therefore the
most useful part of the rpm band under peak acceleration). The torque within
this rpm range should be averaged, multiplied by the efficiency of the
tranny, then divided by the weight of the car. The resulting number will be
multiplied by 5250 to bring the figure back into a range similar to the
torque numbers we have come accustomed to using. This figure would be the
"acceleration rating". I vote for immediate, widespread use of this
equation.
Now, who wants to explain what 5250 is representative of?
