[Shotimes] Ugly Chevy crap-mobiles and the burning path

Of all the nights an ignitor can blow out, mine decided to pick last night,
when it was nice and cold (15 degrees is nasty for us Kentuckers). So, at
07:30 I'm calling suppliers to see who has the damn thing in stock. Iget
lucky, and dash across town at 08:23 to pick up a replacement. House was a
balmy 52 by that point. I'm on the way back, doing a spirited 80, and spy an
odd looking car two lanes over. It was rather small and had what appeared to
be a Chevy bowtie emblem that encompassed the majority of the width of the
rear of the car. There is an emblem on the left side that states "Equalizer".
I think "huh" (almost- I really only bothered to think half way through the
word) and keep on rolling, only to be interupted by the sound of that car
dropping down a gear. I look over an back, and estimate it's forging along at
something under 150hp. A quick flick into fourth and I'm sliding along at 120,
the "Equalizer" well behind me and losing lots of ground. A browse of Chevie's
site once home reveals that it may have been a new Cavalier. If so, I can't
help but scratch my head in amazement at why some people even bother.
In other news, after I installed the new ignitor I noticed one of the four
burners was not lighting. There was minimal flame at the crossover between it
and the next burner. After much tapping with metal objects, I removed the
burner and washed out a bit of dust that had become inbedded where the gas
needed to flow to the crossover path. No gas, no burning path, no lit burner.
I had cleaned the entire area and the burners before it got cold last fall. I
wonder how long I was running on 3 burners, wasting 25% of the gas. No way to
tell with these negative pressure burners as the unburnt gas gets sucked out
and you never smell it. They should monitor each burner for flame IMO.
