...just being the Devil's Advocate.... ;-)

The RE730s on the Lowrider allow me to cruise on wet interstates 10 or 15 mph faster
(up to 70 or 75 on the speedo) than the majority of the other traffic, when the rain
is heavy and the road has probably a quarter to a half inch of draining water on it.
They do hydroplane in puddle areas where the water depth is approaching an inch or
so (no surprise there!). I cannot obviously be exact in my depth measurements, but
the fact is I do have much better traction and braking capabilities at higher speeds
on a 'very' wet road than I would with rib tires, like Pilots. It took me a while
to become confident in the 730s' capabilities at the higher speeds, but now it is a
no brainer. I do test the traction with the brake pedal when it is safe to do so in
very wet conditions, and if it isn't there, I slow down. I also know the road VERY
well, and know where the potential danger spots are. Another point...this
particular set of tires is about 50% worn, which would also require attention to the
potential deterioration of wet traction over time.

As you say, dry traction is best. Summit Point proved that to me.

I'm so happy with the 730s that I can put up with the noise...both the new SHOs are
getting them.

Regarding the current thread about 730s and snow.....no snow for these SHOs. We
don't go there or do that.
