I have had this problem since I bought the car in
August and now its driving me nuts. I have a
'91MTXSHO, the EATC is acting up all the time now. No
matter what the conditions are outside the fan stays
on HI, I can even turn the unit off and the fan even
goes faster. For a while I thought it only happened
when it was dry (not humid) out, indicating it was a
grounding problem but I think not. When the fan wants
to behave you can here it clicking behind the glovebox
and the fan go from OFF to HI back and forth. Other
times it works fine and turns down/up with the
temperature selected. On a side note, when the hazard
lights are on the EATC display/and fan flashes off
when the hazard lights flash on, also the EATC
sometimes flashes when the left turn signal is on.
So I'm not sure what needs to be replaced, is it the
EATC itself, the blower module in the plenum behind
the glovebox, ignition switch, chase down a ground,
replace the turn signal switch or just play the radio
loud to cancel it out. I did the EATC self-test and
it came back with 888 - no errors. Please HELP...
Michael.
