[Shotimes] Buzzing/grinding on startup

Before moving to CA, I lived in Alaska for 20 years, working up north in the
oil fields.  Most of the construction work is done in the winter, to avoid
hurting the tundra.  -40, -60 wind chill typical.  I can remember when it
warmed to -5 it felt like a heat wave.
