Brad,
You can find cheaper tires in 222/55/15 size as it is more common. Go to
Tirerack.com and start looking around at all the different tire types.

I ran Nitto NT-450 for 5 years and have nothing bad to say about them.

Subject: [Shotimes] Tires

The time is soon drawing near wear I must break into the piggy bank and buy
some new tires for my 93 MTX SHO... I was wondering what your opinion is on
what brand and type of tires I should buy for optimal handling and
performance. Currently I have goodyear Eagle GA's which replaced the
goodyear Eagle GT2's the were on it when i bought it. The place where i
bought my tires told me that they stopped making the GT2's and the GA's were
they're replacement. I have since learned that i have been misinformed
about this. I am sticking with the stock wheels for now, the standard
215/60/16. What brand and style of tires should I buy to obtain the best
perfomance from my car. Thanks, Brad
