Josh, 
  I had a comparable problem, I had to drill out one bolt sometime ago. I 
mucked up  some of the thread on the right side. I could get the bolt tight 
afterwards, but I never trusted it. I ended up having a stud welded into that 
side. If you do this be sure to eyeball the length of the stud you leave, too 
much and you may not be able to get the bracket over it. BTW, it sounds as if 
you've already taken care of the problem.
