Any Ford T5 from a 2.3L Mustang (89 and up have 240 lb-ft rating), Turbo
T-bird, Cougar XR7 turbo, or better yet, a Mustang SVO. I would rebuild the
gearbox, however, using premium parts.
A fwd gearbox to replace the MTX-IV?!? I hear Hewland makes an AWESOME
6-speed sequential gearbox (EGT) that will fit. You can get one now for the
low, low, low price of $17,938.36 (11,000 GBP), shipping not included,
bellhousing extra. 300 lb-ft max torque rating.
Or, if you would rather have a rear drive 5-speed gearbox, try a Hewland
MVE-STA. 600+ lb-ft max torque rating. Only $14,696.41 (9,012 GBP),
shipping not included, belhousing extra. This is the same gearbox used in
most all of the top SCCA Trans-Am cars.
If you would rather have a 6-speed sequential rear-drive gearbox, could I
intrest you in a Hewland IGT-C? Same gearbox used in the Japanese GT300
Championship cars!! 600 lb-ft max torque rating, and a low price of
$17,938.36 (11,000 GBP), shipping not included, bellhousing extra.
If these do not fit the bill, could I interest you in the Hewland LSG-A?
It's a rear-drive, 6-speed sequential, transaxle. 600 lb-ft max torque,
used by many 24 Hueres du Mans racers (best finish in 2000 by a Courage C52
Peugeot, 4th overall), all this prestige for a discounted price of
$44,519.75 (27,300 GBP), of course, shipping not included, bellhousing
extra.
