[Shotimes] Tires

I think that the 'best bang for the buck' is the Sumitomo SIRXRON4 in the
stock 215/60-16. Though this only an H rated tire the handling response is
good.

Have had a lot of tires on my SHOs and like the Michelin Pilots the best,
but they were a lot more $.

These Sumitomos are as good in the dry, but a little noisier. They tread
water well and are almost as good as the Michelins in the wet. About the
same as the Michelins in the snow, but not very good on ice, but the only
thing that is good on ice is a Blizzak or studs. They seem to wear well.
Have about 14k on them since the first of Oct. Guess that they will be good
for 30-35k. The only quirk is pavement markings. Like the big wide strip
at a stoplight. These things slip on that stuff like ice and frequently
also squeal under only moderate power. Worse than anyother tire than I have
ever had. Likely would buy then again. $284 installed at Tire Rack in
South Bend, Indiana.

> The time is soon drawing near wear I must break into the piggy bank and
buy some new tires for my 93 MTX SHO... I was wondering what your opinion
is on what brand and type of tires I should buy for optimal handling and
performance. Currently I have goodyear Eagle GA's which replaced the
goodyear Eagle GT2's the were on it when i bought it. The place where i
bought my tires told me that they stopped making the GT2's and the GA's were
they're replacement. I have since learned that i have been misinformed
about this. I am sticking with the stock wheels for now, the standard
215/60/16. What brand and style of tires should I buy to obtain the best
perfomance from my car. Thanks, Brad
