Yep, 0w-60 is available in Europe, and I recently read something about M3s
requiring it.

The other side of this is that dino oils do not do well with the wide
viscosity spreads, as the extra additives to do that reduce the base crude
stock, hence the recommendation years ago against using 10w-40 dino oil.
With synthetic, they can come up with whatever witches brew they need to get
the desired characteristics, and reduced lubrication with wide spreads is
most likely not an issue.

I think it's worse than that.  I think there's  0w-60w, or something
close.  BMW is recommending that oil in the latest M3s, the ones that
are having the oiling problems.  They just extended the warranty on
those motors as well to help cover the motor problems.

Seems the latest fad in synthetics is a 0w40 oil.  OEM in Europe in the
big name cars.
