Quaifes are mandatory on a CSVT if you ever drive them hard.  Their diffs
are so weak that they'll fall apart if you look at them weird.  Apparently a
little wheel hop and they'll snap - and we thought we had diff problems!  I
saw it happen to a guy running a stock CSVT at the track - just a minor
amount of wheel hop off the line, then nothing.  It was dead.  I talked to a
couple CSVT guys that have had Quaifes installed in their cars.  They said
that the guy that installed their Quaifes had also done it to a few SHOs,
and said the SHO diff is a much stronger, better-built piece.

It does appear that Ford may have fixed the problem for the '00 CSVTs, as
this is the same year the Focus was introduced over here, which uses the
exact same trans.  There's a lot of abused and modded Foci out there, and no
one has had a problem with their diffs, and neither has any 00 CSVT guys
that I know of.  The friend of mine that owns a '00 CSVT autocrosses, drag
races, and drives it hard on the street and hasn't had any diff problems -
he knocks on wood every day!

I am pretty sure the newer MTX-75s could handle the power of the V8 as long
as you went through them and replaced what you could with stronger parts and
installed a quaife.
