I totally understand. I'll try to get some pictures of it done sometime, but I
don't plan any more 60K services for a while....too bad, I'm in the mood!! I
should have done it yesterday......shoulda, coulda, woulda!!
It takes about a minute to do it. You free the sensor itself from where it
mounts, let it hang free (the wire is also removed from its slot in the center
plastic timing cover, which, hopefully is removed already), being held only by
the rear (metal) timing cover. Take a medium standard flat bladed screwdriver
and pry the rear cover forward, towards yourself, away from the ends of the
fuel rails. (You have already prepared the sensor wiring by sliding the
plastic cover down about 2 inches from the connectors.) Slide the whole
harness strraight down as far as you can, so that the back ends of the
connectors, where the wires come through, are resting on the back corner of the
front fuel rail. (You can do this before you start to pry the cover.) Pry
the cover forward using the rear rail for leverege. You won't hurt either it
or the rails. Try not to let the screwdriver slip...it might hurt the wiring
of the new sensor. Slide the wire past the front rail, and let it stop between
the two. Now let loose with the screwdriver, and pry again using the front
rail for leverege. Side the wires past the end of the rear rail. After they
are clear, separate the two connectors....there is more room for both if they
go one at a time. They will drop down, and come out from under the bottom of
the cover. The new one goes in the same way, just backwards.
Easy!!
