The rear main seal is the seal around the crankshaft. Directly behind the
flywheel. The rear main carrier gasket is the one that goes around the rear
main seal and it's covered by a plate. If you take the plate off to get out
the rear main, but sure to replace the carrier gasket seal. If you don't
take off the plate or carrier gasket to get out the rear main seal there's a
possibilty of disturbing the oil pan gasket. If you're doing the clutch
yourself, definitely get the Clutch video from Josh as well, as it's worth
more in info than what he charges. I'm looking forward to doing my clutch
myself along with a tranny rebuild. If you have a little extra money, go
for the ceramic throw-out bearing as well. I've heard nothing but good
things about it.
