[Shotimes] front hub

Boy, you are just having more fun than can be imagined!! ;-)

Future tip on the Rotozip: Very little pressure is needed, let the drill do
the work. I bought two of them, but one bit was enough to get through four
hardened, heat-cycled manifold studs, a couple of which had a broken carbide
bit and a broken Easy-out in them.

If you aren't going to reuse the strut, your plan sounds fine (I had a
similar issue when my rear pinch bolt broke). Once I got the strut out, I
used a saw to cut through the chunk of bolt stuck in there. I would suggest
doing that, and NOT cutting the tab off the new strut.

Don't recall the size, but I used one around 5/16". Use whatever torque
setting is recommended for that size bolt. I believe I did the" It feels
tight enough and it didn't break" theory!!

Ok. So I spent nearly 2-1/2 hours last night at a friends with both a
hand drill and a drill press. Ruined numerous drill bits. Including
Porter's trick Rotozip bit. That corksoaker only lasted about 20
seconds before the tip broke off. Managed to get a hole big enough
to get a 5/16 bolt through.

So, the question is, would a Grade 8 5/16 bolt and nut do the job?
If it can hold the torque, I would think it would. What should the
bolt be tightened to?

As it is, I still have some work to do. I can't get the old strut out
because the rest of the bolt is still going through the tab on the
strut. I'm thinking cut off the tab so I can get the strut out, then
use a cutting wheel to cut a slot in the bolt in the pinch. Otherwise,
the pinch won't be able to pinch anything. Of course, then I'll have
to cut the tab off of the new strut to get it into the spindle.

Any comments on my game plan? CONSTRUCTIVE comments!?
