Yeah, this topic died last week, and it shouldn't be brought up again,
but.....couldn't let this comment go!
>From the SHO perspective, that won't happen. The SHO will follow the pattern
of most other old cars that have a following. It may now be at the youngest
age of ownership, but I think that was really a few years ago, and I believe
the average ownership age is creeping up again. May not get as high as when
the Gen 1&2 cars were new, but it will get close.
The reason is the cost required to keep them maintained and on the road. The
initial purchase price may lure young kids, but the cost of maintenance &
upkeep will rival any collectible.
I agree with the statement about the SLOs, though. They are hand-me-down
cars, and just won't have the following of the SHO. Not that 20 years down
the road there won't be a hard-core group who have restored old SLOs, but
I'm sure they will be more along the lines of the classic car clubs. I have
felt for years that the SHO Club will be more like the Sunbeam Tiger club we
met at Milan Dragway back in '95. Some pure stick, but most modified for
good street/dragstrip/track performance.

The site has been in a downward spiral for some time now and it didn't start
with you. The cars keep going to younger and younger people. It's
unfortunate, but SHO forum and perhaps even this list will eventually suffer
the same demise.
