There are various kinds. I have a KD brand. It's kind of like a scissor
with all 4 sizes on one small tool. I don't think it was over $15. AutoZone
might have one on their loaner tool program. I also just learned that
O'Riley has started a loaner tool program too. I would go ahead and DIY.
Just be sure and minimize the time the system is open to the air. Don't want
your new dryer to absorb too much moisture. Also the longer you pull a
vacuum the drier the system will be. That's why I got a compressed air
powered vacuum pump for under $50. Works great but does eat the air. Pull
the system down and let it set overnight to check for leaks. The A/C shops
are always too busy to really give it enough time.
