Your average SHO has at least FIVE temp sensors. Two are AIR sensors for
ETAC:

--- Outside air temp sensor is on the radiator wall, near hood latch.

--- Interior air temp sensor is behind the "SHO" plate on the passenger side
of the dash

And three of them are COOLANT temp sensors:

--- Cold Engine Lock Out (CELO) switch is in the engine bay, mounted on the
steel portion of one of the heater hoses. Keeps the ETAC from blowing cold
air on your feet until the engine's warmed up a bit. Two-wire connector.

--- Engine Coolant Temp (ECT) sensor is mounted on the rear part of the
rat's nest of coolant piping just above the tranny. This one is a
thermistor that tells the engine computer about engine temp. Plays a role
in fuel mixture, don't ask me how I know. Two-wire connector.

--- Sending unit for the dash Temp gauge: Again, a thermistor controlling
the ground side of the dash gauge. Mounted very near the thermostat.
One-wire connection.

Can anyone tell me which temp sender is which. I can see a one wire one
close to the thermostat housing and more to the front of the engine bay,
and a two wire one further from the housing and rearward. My gauge seems
to operate fine, but am questioning the sender for the computer. I
recently replaced my O2s. No more CE light, but I still only get 22 mpg
maximum.
Thanks!
