[Shotimes] "remanufactured" A/C clutch impressions

Thanks for your input, Adam. How long has your remanufactured clutch been installed? Did you happen to notice how far the rivets were from the clutch surface? No problems with the gap? Maybe I'll understand it better when I remove the old one, but I still can't get how the gap will be correct when both clutch surfaces (hub and pulley) have been ground down. By the way, mine has Ford part numbers on all the parts and they look like they were made by Nippondenso.

was 99.99. It works awesome. I've had no problems, and even better, I
can't
feel it engaging anymore cause it dosen't put much strain on the engine. I
had good luck with mine. I thought it looked different too, and I was a
little worried about it since it wasn't a ford item, and I have the worst
luck with A/C, but this clutch from AZ worked great!

> Ok, I got my Remanufactured A/C clutch, Factory Air 48853, from
Autozone.com. I think it looks horrible and I don't trust it. They
simply
resurfaced the hub and pulley surfaces, and not very well. The clutch
surface now is not very high above the rivets, and having looked at the
clutch on my A/C, it's worn down to the rivets already. Another thing I
don't understand: If both pieces are resurfaced and metal taken off, how
would I achieve the correct gap between the hub and pulley? It seems even
leaving out both the shims, there would be an excessive gap. Anyone have
any comments about remanufactured A/C clutches? Mark N.--You said you've
had good results with Autozone clutches, is that brand-new, or
"remanufactured"? They didn't offer new units on their website. I guess
I'll spend the extra 30 dollars or so for a new unit.
