[Shotimes] Fun with SHOs, Part 1 (of hopefully only two
parts)

I hope you put new bolts in when you reassembled?? Hope you never have to
pull it out again!! Although, the round-hole-in-the-frame trick worked very
well, plus the hole cutter also has enough guts to cut through the inside
section of the bolt.
We tried pounding on sockets, to no avail. What happened on both bolts was
that they came out about a turn or so, then they hit the cruddy part of the
threads up inside the frame. The left side came out (though it was gonna
snap a couple of times!!), but the right side didn't like anything we tried
(heat, PB, etc).
I have not purchased a GOOD impact wrench yet, but I believe that spending
the $$$ on something like an IR Thunder Gun, plus having new/nearly new
impact sockets, problem bolts/nuts like this can be tackled. It isn't even
worth the effort to try my C-H impact wrench on this stuff. Even using
6-point sockets, you can't help but put side-torque on your ratchet or
breaker bar when you try to get them out by hand.

Ron,
I was thinking this same thought when I did the 26mm rear bar on my 95.
Luckily, both bolts came out OK, but one of them is rounded off fairly bad
(in the off direction!). I ended up pounding a smaller sized 6-point socket
to get a good bite on it. Anyways, I would think about using a torch and
cutting a small square hole on the side of the frame rail. That would be
easier than drilling.
My proportioning valve nut is probably worse off, I looked at that crap-trap
and just shook my head. This is why I'm buying my next vehicle from GA...
Just my 2 cents.
