Yep, that is true......as long as the car has always resided outside the
rust belt.

You would be surprised at how many Detroit-area cars end up in the warm
regions of the country!!

For example: my green '95 spent two years as a lease car in Detroit. It then
went to TN with 33K miles, where it spent a hard life for the next two years
and 35K miles. Then it went to KY and the last two owners now know the
history. It was not as bad for corrosion as a true northern car, though.

To be honest with you, paying folks to do things like rear struts are well
worth it, unless:

1. You are unemployed, a poor student, or poor because of other
circumstances, and have a lot of time (but no money).

2. You are a true masochist who enjoys spending a weekend struggling with
parts that will break upon removal.

The strut part is OK, but the rear pinch bolts are smaller than the front
(and you managed to break a front one!!), plus there is always the joy of
getting old swaybar links off and putting new ones on.

Yep. Lived in Cleveland it's whole life before I got it. I'm afraid to
do the rear struts now. I was going to do them in a couple months,
but I may pay a shop to do them now.
