You don't need to worry about these marks that much when putting the belt on. You rotate the crank to match the mark on the lower part of the oil pump. You rotate the 2 cams to match the marks on the top part of the rear timing cover. Then you put the belt on. The crank may have to be rotated very slightly either way to get the belt to fit just right. It is difficult to get it on 1 tooth out of time. After putting the belt on then take your time to inspect the alignment. Check all 3 marks on the gears against the marks on the oil pump and timing cover. If the belt is on right then the marks will line up real well. If the belt is off by 1 tooth then it will be real obvious that it is off.
