[Shotimes] Tires for convention/rest of the summer

Looking at the Tire Rack site, stock GY GT IIs are 26.1" in 215/60/16, Yoko
ES100s are 25.8" in 225/55/16, and are 25.3" in a 225/50/16 size. For
dragstrip work, the 225/50s will add a little bit, but that is about 3% from
stock, and 1% with the 225/55 tire.

One big thing to keep in mind. If you want 225/50/16 and are ordering online
from Tire Rack or Discount, order them for a car that came with 225/50, as
they won't sell them to you. I had this issue trying to get 225/50 Kumho
MXs, and got the ES100s in 225/55 instead (which was my original choice,
anyway).

If you don't have Intrax or Eibach lowering springs, the 225/55 will look
bad, and the 225/50 will look WORSE wrt to gap in the front fenderwell.

With stock slicers, I would tend to stay with the 225/55. I looked at the
225/50, but I have Eibachs, and both the ES100 and Kumho MX are summer-only
tires (I run another set of tires for the winter).

I'm just about to order up my new rubber for all 4 corners. I'm pretty much
sold on doing with Yokohama ES100's all the way round, but wanted some
opinions on sizing. I know that 225/55/16 is close to our stock size, and
I'm
leaning that way cause the speedo will be off a tiny bit which will make my
speedo dead on. But I've read about the "changes" to gearing ratios by using
a
smaller tire, and was thinking about getting a 225/50/16 tire with that in
mind. I like to drive my car, I think its kinda fast, I want to get to the
drags later this summer, and I wondered if that little profile change would
be
worth having a more inaccurate speedo? They're going on my slicers, so I
know
I can't get to much above 225

Thoughts?
