Same thing happened to me two weeks ago. Tried to just
replace the clip, held for about two hours. Was
sitting inside when I heard a "twang". Guess that was
the sound of the whole thing letting go. I ended up
being able to find 3rd-5th and reverse, but I could
never get it into 1st or 2nd. My guess is one of the
two cables let go, but hopefully you found otherwise.
Good luck, new cables cost around $250. :(
