The cables themselves are not damaged, just the rubber grommet that holds one of the ends on.  There are probably a thousand different ways to rig this so it will work temporarily or permanently.  I rigged mine real temporarily with a rag stuffed in there, then for a couple of weeks with a bungee cord until I could dream up a more permanent fix.  With the top of the console off you can see what is going on in there and you can shift with 2 hands to get to all of your gears.  This will at least let you get home.
