The Clips are what is left when someone braks off your spoiler. The one I
just bought also has only these "clips"

Chris,

Keep at it. Electromagnetic field analysis, Laplace transforms, and diff
eq's will all come in handy someday....yeah right. I graduated over 10
years ago (BSEE) and I still haven't used that stuff.

Anyway, concerning the Plus spoiler there should be 5 small (1/4") holes
along the edge of the trunk lid. From L to R let's call them 1, 2, 3, 4, &
5. On the bottom of the trunk lid, when you open it, holes 1, 3, & 5 are
behind some of the support ribbing and Ford punched a larger (1") hole. I
say punched because those holes are very smooth and finished, not a hack job
like you'd get with a hole-saw. Holes 2 and 4 only go thru the sheet metal
of the trunk lid, there is no support bracing.

The spoiler is held on with nuts that have a special rubber washer that
comes up the sides of the nut. Mine tore from tightening them down so much.
I just sealed each one with bathtub caulk and it hasn't leaked or rattled in
years. I don't know what these 'clips' are that you're talking about -
sounds like maybe an aftermarket spoiler. BUT, all of the green '91s were
Plus cars and I've never seen one without the spoiler.
