Well last night I was able to get in and probe around a little better. It
appears, unfortunately that the cable that is responsible for forward and
backward engagement on the tranny is broke. It explains why when I put the
car in neutral from underneath and then I'm able to put it in 2nd, 4th, and
reverse, but can not put it in 1st, 3rd or 5th. In the first set of gears
listed it is pushing the cable and then it pushes the against the end of the
broken piece allowing the engagement. However when trying to go into the
others it is pulling away and there is zero resistance. So my next
questions are as follows: Does anyone who has completed the rod shifter
conversion have their old cables lying aroung? Does anyone know a part
number? What is the removal process? Thanks again in advance.
