Hey Jon
Another good way to find out if your half-shaft would be to put your front end on jackstands, have
someone hold the left wheel, you sit inside the vehicle and slowly accelerate. Not too fast or
you'll whip the persons arms off the wheel. Once the right wheel begins spinning, you'll feel a
shake. Either side that causes it will tell you which shaft is bad, if any at all. I've seen
multiple parts cause a shake from bad ball joints, worn control arm bushings, subframe bushings
not dampening properly, bent/cracked spindles, and (the obvious) tires. (belt seperations, tire
cupping, and worn suspension causing tires to wear unevenly) Constant "wobble" type feedback are
most common of half shafts, however vibrations are a common wheel balancing and are at certain
speeds. Worn parts can be something that occurs during a large load of power and/or uneven roads.
You might be aware of most of this, however it's also good to news to those who aren't aware of
such behaviors. I'm also going to state that not all the parts listed above will commonly give you
a shake, ball joints (for example) commonly cause a loose wobble-type feeling at higher speeds
where the steering system feels loose or feels like it's trailing on and about.
P.S. - Those boggin' pics are just plain ole bad-arse! :)
