Subject: [Shotimes] Need advice on SHO problem.
Oh great fountains of SHO knowledge,
Sorry about the long post...please don't flame me about "Read the
manual"...I work 2 jobs and have very little time to read or surf.
I appreciate all the emails about the rear bumper problem I had, I ended up
using a "zip tie" to temporarily band-aid the problem.
Here's the new problem, first the scenario.....Hot day, a/c on, car running
fine, then car dies....will not restart...sounds like not getting gas.....I
have a great (I don't know where it's from) thought.....open the gas
cap....hissing sound....get back in car...it starts first try.....tighten
gas cap...drive about a mile...dies again....open gas cap...car
starts....leave gas cap on but not tight...car runs ok.
I thought it was the fuel pump....AutoZone pulled the codes several months
ago and had 02 sensor problems, and fuel pump circuit open...or something
like that. I bought the fuel pump and had a garage put it in...(total
cost...$60 for pump....$75 for labor)....it quit humming...now the car is
really quiet...but after driving awhile with a/c on and gas cap tight...it
died again. I know I needed the pump but I couldn't really afford it.
SO! What is everyone's verdict....I trust the garage, and they seem
reasonable on price...so they can change parts for very little money....I
don't have the money to have them diagnose the problem, and then pay for the
parts and labor...So I have come to the list. "Again".
Thanks in advance,
